The best hackers including MuscleNerd, Mark Dowd and Pod2g meet to discuss the iOS 6 jailbreak. Here are the key points that will help us to better understand the situation.
A few months ago, Pod2g, MuscleNerd and other hackers had a discussion Hack in the Box conference in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Several topics were touched but the main focus of discussion was on jailbreaking.
Below is a video of the conversation just uploaded yesterday:
From left to right is Mark Dowd, also known as mdowd, pod2g, HITB’s l33tdawg, MuscleNerd and planetbeing. Except for l33tdawg, these are guys who are working to jailbreak iOS 6.
Definitely the whole video is worth watching, but here are a few points worth noting:
- MuscleNerd says that piracy and software unlocked are irrelevant today, because it has become so easy for third parties to add the database of the device IMEI to Apple’s devices already unlocked.
- Mark Dowd, security expert says that Apple has effectively revised security in iOS 6, which has made thus far more difficult to write kernel exploit, if we compare them to previous versions of the software.
- Pod2g has been rather busy with his day job, but began to take a look at jailbreak iOS 6. He is working on a userland patch, trying to find a vulnerability to trigger the execution of code.
As always, we will post as much information as we have available as soon as we receive. What can I say .. stay tuned!
