Google Maps For iOS Updated, Introducing Some New Features!

Google Maps is the most popular application dedicated to maps, which is back on iOS after a short period of absence. After the resounding flop of Apple maps, many users have now opted for the new Google app, which is now updated to version 1.1 introducing important changes.

The Google Maps application base are always the same, as there are some minor differences from the graphic point of view with those available for internet browser. The Apple’s maps, along with their countless flaws, paved the way for third-party app.

Google has just released a major update of its iOS application that introduces several new features, like integration with Google Contacts and a new method of search by categories.

  • Search your Google contacts, login to view saved addresses when you search for friends and family by name.
  • Run local searches by selecting the categories most commonly used such as restaurants, bars, cafes, service stations, etc
  • Choose miles or kilometers as the unit of measure.
  • Some functions may not be available in all countries.

Google Maps is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod Touch (third-generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod nano (5th generation), and iPad. Requires iOS 5.1 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
